Stanford Children's Health Specialty Services in Sunnyvale, CA is a 40,000 sq. ft. pediatric specialty clinic co-locating multiple modalities in an existing office building: pediatric and adolescent medicine, radiology, behavioral therapy, sports medicine and physical therapy, dermatology, allergy, endocrinology, among others, as well as a separate clinic for Fertility and Reproductive Health with its own entrance. The design centered on light-filled patient waiting areas and playful cues from nature to create an inviting healing environment for children and their families. Fumiko Docker, Pencil Box principal and architect, worked with the interior
design team to articulate the playful nature-inspired interior while she was at HOK.
